The senior ladies' team came home with silver medal

There were some fantastic results for Stockport Harriers at the Greater Manchester AA Cross Country Championships at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday 4th January. Congratulations to all of our many winners, and a huge well done to everyone who took part.

The overall men’s winner was our very own Andi Jones. Congratulations Andi on a fantastic run! Click here to read Andi’s blog post about the event. Jack Morris came 4th in 35.53.

We are also delighted that Jack Nixon won the under-20 men’s title in a great time of 22.16. Rosa Chrystie-Lowe came 4th in the under-20 women’s race in 23.22.

Fantastic performances from our under-17 women saw Stockport teams take first and third prize. Ellen Downs was the overall winner in 20.17, Mollie Williams second in 20.29, Elizabeth Apsley 5th in 21.20, and Ruth Sinclair 6th in 22.03.

Our under-15 girls swept the board. Stockport teams came first, second, fourth and eighth in this category. Katy Whiteoak won the under-15 girls title in a great time of 12.42, Juliet Downs was third in 13.27, Lucy Donaghy 4th in 13.29, Rebecca Jones 6th in 13.59, Georgia Bourke 8th in 14.03, Chloe Lockett 9th in 14.06 and Naomi Sinclair 10th in 14.19.

Stockport also won the under-13 boys team prize. Well done Ben Batho, 7th place, 9.45, Flynn Walsh, 8th place, 9.48 and Fabio Carose, 11th place, 9.58. Our B team came 10th in a strong field.

Our under-13 girls team took third prize – congratulations to Chloe Rogers, 7th place, 10.12, Morganne Alford, 13th place, 10.39, and Mollie Cook, 18th place, 10.52.

Senior Ladies – report by Maureen Wilkins

The senior ladies came home with silver and the second team came in 5th place overall. Jenny, Lindsay, Faye, Sally, Claire, Gill and Maureen worked well on the very flat yet muddy course. Well done to Faye and Claire for competing in their first championship race for Stockport Harriers, and to Faye who has qualified to represent Greater Manchester.

Lindsay, Jenny and Faye were the first three in for Stockport and collected their silver medals.
